Urbanyi sent a strong message to Afghanistan ahead of semi final clash
Dhaka, BANGLADESH – Maldives coach Urbanyi said he didn’t see how Afghanistan play and he only knew some verbal information about them, but sent a strong message to them saying “They must stop us”. Afghanistan entered the semi final with a 100% record, beating India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka in group B games.

“I did not see Afghanistan play or their video. I just have verbal information about how they play. I do not depend the analysis on how they play. We have to focus on our ambition and we do have it”

“They must stop us.”

He also said the players want to win the game and they have based the preparations on it.

“I think these players want to win the game, and want to win the tournament.  That’s how we targeted the preparation. We would want to play the same way as we did against Bangladesh. Experienced players will join and it will bring a change.”

“Bonda has recovered and he would be fit to play in the game. Nazmeen will not be able to play tomorrow. He cannot walk properly at the moment. He got a knee injury”

Speaking about the missed penalties, coach said he do not want to make any conclusions from it.

“Penalty is something special. Two kilo scored in the preparation and he missed the penalty in the first match. He wanted to take it as he missed in SAFF Championship. It is good that someone wants to correct the mistake. Umair’s second penalty you know what happened. It is a good reason why he missed the penalty after the play was stopped for 10 minutes. I don’t want to have any conclusion, after we missed the two penalties”

When asked about the message to the supporters, coach said that the boys are doing their best.

“Our boys or their boys are trying to do their best. They want to win the tournament. But there are other teams as well”

Coach also said that he asked the players to enjoy the game.

“I already give them the message every day. To enjoy what they are doing. The only way to enjoy is when they have passion and if we can put all of their energy in to the game. Then you enjoy and result will come. In football or any sport, you cannot guarantee win. But performance would be there”

Ashfaaq and Akram who was yellow carded in the group matches would not have any problem in the semi finals as those yellow cards will not be counted from the semi finals.

I believe coach will see how afghan played before the match. Wouldn't be surprised if they beat us. Maldivian soccer is in a downward spiral. If you miss the target from the spot how are you gonna score. yes all great players have missed but without pressure if you can't hit target there is no hope.
